Lot Description
1916-S 50C MS67 PCGS. This offering consists of a stunning Superb Gem, the single finest known to PCGS, and NGC has likewise only graded one piece at MS67. The strike is bold, with Liberty's thumb, head, and skirt lines plainly visible. Just a hint of golden-brown color resides near the upper obverse periphery, close to the E and T in LIBERTY. The fields, devices, and rims are virtually free of contact marks, in fact, a glass can only locate a trio of tiny contact marks on Liberty's left (facing) leg, and a similar quantity of barely detectable blemishes on the reverse, just to the right of the eagle's breast. In sum, this is an exquisitely preserved, natural appearing, abundantly appealing example of this sought-after date and mint. This one is for a connoisseur's cabinet. Population: 1 in 67, 0 finer (3/04). From the Nicholas Collection.
