Lot Description
1918 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. MS-65 (PCGS). OGH. Boldly lustrous and sharply struck with pale golden toning on both sides. Rich crimson highlights gather at the rims, especially on the reverse. Much scarcer in Gem Mint State than its mintage of more than 6.6 million pieces suggests. Indeed, just eight examples of the date have been graded finer than the present Gem. A logjam of grading events (96 pieces) at MS-65 suggests numerous resubmissions have occurred at that level in hope of attaining the MS-66 grade. Choice and appealing both physically and aesthetically.
