Lot Description
Brilliant and flashy with strong luster in the fields and creamy smooth surfaces. Gems are prized for their rarity and don't think for a minute that this Philadelphia issue is available at this grade level. After 25 years of grading coins PCGS has tallied only 96 grading events of this date in Gem, with a scant 8 finer. Pale gold peripheral toning on the reverse, the obverse with a dash of russet at the rims and scattered flecks. The strike is bold on Liberty's head and thumb but slightly soft on her dress lines over her thigh.
