A satiny and lustrous specimen with warm gold, peach, and champagne iridescence throughout. The strike is soft at the design centers, not an unusual occurrence for the date. The 1919-D half dollar escalates rapidly in price as grades rise. For instance, the Guide Book value for the date doubles from EF to AU ($825 to $1,675), then triples at MS-60, then triples again at MS-63. This attractive MS-62 offers a nice meeting point between high grade and reasonable (in this context) value.
