Lot Description
1919-D 50C MS64 PCGS. CAC. Even though the 1919-D Walking Liberty half dollar had a nominal mintage of 1.16 million coins, most of them appear to have circulated; even today, they occasionally turn up in accumulations of 90% silver, along with more-abundant dates such as the 1918-S and 1920-S. It appears as though precious few were saved for posterity, and today the issue is among the rarest of the series in high grades, and probably the sole rarest in Gem condition. This near-Gem is a silver-white "just-miss Gem" coin, a high-end piece with no discernible toning, typical satiny luster, and few marks for the grade. The strike through the centers is weak, a trait the issue is known for. Population: 71 in 64 (1 in 64+), 11 finer (11/12).
