Lot Description
1919-D 50C MS64 NGC. CAC. Along with the 1921-S, the 1919-D half dollar in near-Gem condition is one of the two keys to the entire Walking Liberty series. In addition to its absolute rarity in Mint State grades, the 1919-D is also a strike rarity. This MS64 piece shows the strike typical of most pieces, with considerable flatness on the head, and more so on Liberty's branch hand, which is essentially obliterated. The luster is quite impressive, however, with cartwheel brilliance, and the silver-white surfaces are essentially untoned and near-pristine. Overall, this coin displays pleasing eye appeal, affirmed by the CAC sticker. Census: 83 in 64, 4 finer (7/13). Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2007), lot 3961. From The Zack Fluhr Collection.
