Lot Description
1921 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. MS-63 (NGC). One of the key dates to the series with a modest mintage of 246,000 pieces in all. Most entered circulation unnoticed, and few survive in mint condition. The present coin is a pleasant exception to the general rule. Toned with light gold and russet over lustrous fields, the general color remains silver to the eye. As to the strike Liberty's hand and dress lack the uppermost definition, but are sharper than typically seen on this date. Naturally, the eagle's thigh lacks the feather definition on his rear leg, also common to this design. Clean surfaces and fields, with a couple of shallow reeding marks tucked into the folds of Liberty's dress, others along the leading edge of the eagle's wing, on the high points of the design. A rarity in any mint state grade.
