Lot Description
1921 50C MS65 NGC. Even casual collectors of the series are familiar with the mighty triumvirate of 1921-dated Walking Liberty halves from Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco, the most illustrious trio of issues, if not the rarest in every grade within the series. The 1921 Philadelphia has the second-lowest mintage but appears more often in Gem condition than the 1921-D or 1921-S. The present Gem shows light, even satin luster throughout both sides, predominantly silver with light tinges of pinkish color. The few light ticks appearing through the central high points are consistent with the grade; the only mentionable mark is at the top of the juncture of the eagle's neck and right (facing) wing. The sharp is quite bold, showing a well-defined split thumb on Liberty and excellent head details. Census: 33 in 65, 2 finer (1/13).
