Lot Description
1923-S 50C MS66 NGC. Iridescent golden-brown, sky-blue, and russet patina fills the margins, while the centers possess pearl-gray color. A lustrous and exceptionally preserved premium Gem that will impress even the most demanding collector. The strike is quite sharp, since the skirt lines are essentially complete, the thumb on the branch hand is outlined, and Liberty's head has pleasing definition. A difficult issue to find in any Mint State grade, most Uncirculated pieces are in MS62 to MS64 grades. Gems are rare, and undisturbed premium Gems of the present quality are very rare and under enormous pressure from specialists of this always popular series. Population: 6 in 66, 1 finer (3/05).
