Lot Description
1795 $1 Flowing Hair, Two Leaves XF45 NGC. CAC. B-1, BB-21, R.2. Early unlisted die state, with clash mark from Liberty's nose to forehead. The BB-21 variety is identified by the lowest curl just touching one point of star 1, the two leaves under each wing, and the berry positioned under the right side of the first A in AMERICA. The 7 was punched over an erroneous 1, which shows clearly on this specimen. The obverse die of B-1 was also used to strike the extremely rare 1795 B-10, BB-22, and the Rarity-8 1795 B-16, BB-16 Dollars. This attractive Choice XF specimen is toned an attractive medium gray color with a touch of blue and gold intermixed. A small planchet flaw can be seen between STATES and OF. Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2002), lot 7167.
