Lot Description
1796 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-5, BB-65. Rarity-2. BB Die State IV. Large Date, Small Letters. EF-40 (PCGS). A trifle dark gray with lighter gray on the high points of the devices that produces the two-tone effect so commonly seen on these Draped Bust dollars. The surfaces are smooth and pleasing, with no deep or detracting handling marks. Noteworthy are the eagle's breast feathers which are seldom found at all. Strong separation of Liberty's curls too, and a scarce die pairing to find in high grade. Later die state with the die lumps on the reverse touching both IC(A), others at ER of AMERICA.
