1797 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-1, BB-73. Rarity-3. BB Die State III. Stars 9x7, Large Letters. EF-40 (PCGS). Golden-gray toning with flecks of darker russet in areas given some of the devices an accent or two. Average surfaces with scattered light marks from circulation, and the strike is decent for this later die state. Cracks are seen through Liberty's ribbon and the obverse stars, as the dies strained to form these large silver coins. The Small Eagle reverse is a scarce type and one of the more elegant designs of the early Federal period.
