Lot Description
1799 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-11, BB-161. Rarity-3. BB Die State III. VF-30 (PCGS). OGH. The warm lilac-gray surfaces of this attractive Draped Bust dollar are mark-free to the unaided eye, and low magnification serves to bolster the viewer's opinion -- this is one nice coin. If we were wont to offer challenges, we would say this coin is as nice as you'll ever find at the VF-30 level. Struck from a heavily clashed obverse die with trace elements of the reverse design and lettering faint but present throughout the devices and peripheral legend and stars. The diagnostic reverse crack from the rim at the D in UNITED has now grown in size and connects to the ribbon and the star that connects to the eagle' s beak. "Choice" is the operative word here!
