1801 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-213, B-3. Rarity-3. Bowers Die State II. AU-53 (PCGS). This is a rich-looking piece with smoky lilac-silver patina to the obverse. The reverse is also toned, albeit in slightly bolder lavender-gray color. Direct angles also call forth old-silver undertones on both sides, especially in the more protected areas around some of the devices. Boldly defined with minimal wear and no outwardly distracting abrasions. Conditionally scarce for a Draped Bust Dollar, this coin should be of obvious importance for high-grade circulated type purposes.
