Lot Description
1801 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-2, BB-212. Rarity-3. BB Die State II. AU-55 (NGC). High grade 1801 silver dollars are scarce and Mint State examples are indeed rare. Finding a gently circulated example for a set is a challenge. The present coin offers high technical grade as well as smooth surfaces which display moderate gray-gold patina on the obverse and reverse. There are no adjustment marks or surface problems and the strike is reasonably sharp. Bold die clashing is noted just above Liberty's chest from the eagle's wing on the reverse, common to this die pairing.
