Lot Description
1802 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-6, BB-241. Rarity-1. BB Die State III. Narrow Date. AU-58 (NGC). An absolutely lovely example of this die variety, from the low mintage 1802 production, officially listed as 41,650 pieces, but estimated by Dave Bowers as perhaps 80,000 coins (not all of them struck within the calendar year.) Beautiful shades of electric-turquoise, purple-red, and russet-gold toning occur on both sides, primarily near the various devices. The smooth, unabraded surfaces retain abundant mint luster, and the motifs are sharply rendered on both sides.
