1871 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS). Frosty golden gray with lively supportive luster beneath a wide array of gold and peach iridescence that springs to life in a bright light source. Nicely struck and laden with eye appeal. Mint State Liberty Seated dollars of any date are scarce to rare on the whole, and even the so-called "common" dates such as 1871 are elusive when the Choice Uncirculated grade is taken into consideration. Indeed, just a half dozen examples of the date have been graded finer than the present specimen by PCGS, and the pile-up of grading events (34) at MS-64 suggests numerous resubmissions. A nice opportunity for an alert type collector.
