1872 Liberty Seated Silver Dollar. MS-64 (PCGS). Satiny white and lustrous with clean surfaces that approach the gem level. Free of all but shallow hints of contact in the fields and spanning the devices. Repunched date twice one in the rocky base above, the other just below in the field. Furthermore there is a long and complex lintmark that was located on the master hub as the curling evidence is raised on the coin on Liberty's legs and left of the rock. The strike is sharp at the centers and left side, but soft on the radials of the right side stars on the obverse. As nice as this date can usually be found with patience as a mere six have been certified as finer by PCGS, half of those as ""MS-64 +"". Interestingly this obverse die was used to coin both proofs and circulation strikes.
