Lot Description
1872-CC $1 XF45 NGC. Winter snowfall blocking the mountain passes delayed the delivery of new coinage dies to Carson City in 1872. Accordingly, only 3,150 silver dollars were struck during the entire year--but the certified populations indicate a small survival rate. Rusty Goe's The Mint on Carson Street estimates that only 250 to 300 coins survive in all grades. This piece offers deep charcoal-gray patina, with light wear but no mentionable impairments. Census: 6 in 45, 39 finer (6/07).
