1862 Seated Liberty Silver Dollar. Proof-64 (NGC). An elusive Civil War date. Light steel gray with speckled blue, gold, and orange highlights across both sides. One of 550 proofs of the date produced—experience shows us that proofs of the era bear the weight of collector enthusiasm owing to the absolute scarcity of high-grade circulation strikes for virtually every date, most of which found their way into the Orient Trade and are thus forever lost to today's collectors. A pleasing selection for a Seated dollar cabinet or an advanced type set.
