Lot Description
1878 7/8TF $1 Strong MS66 PCGS. VAM-37. Rich patina and pristine preservation are hallmarks of this stunning Premium Gem, one of the 7/4 Tailfeathers varieties. The color palette includes ice-blue and deeper ocean-blue with accents of crimson, violet, rose orange, and gold in broad array throughout both sides, a coin that both color aficionados and variety collectors will have a field day over. The VAM variety is attributed on the reverse by faint die lines under the juncture of the olive stem and leaves, and one die spur protruding from the lower side of the fletchings. The obverse shows the fourth star up from the right of the date showing a broken inside star point. Simply a gorgeous coin, well-struck and with no singular contact. Some wispy peripheral die cracks on the reverse add even more interest. Among the finest of the 7/8 Strong major design variant. Population: 8 in 66, 0 finer (12/13).
