Lot Description
1879-CC $1 MS65 PCGS. While the production of an issue determines how many examples theoretically can survive, practical matters of attrition and one-off events such as a mass melting can render all but the smallest mintages utterly meaningless. As a case-in-point, the 1879-CC dollar had a far smaller GSA population than lower-mintage peers such as the 1885-CC, and so it is an important issue in Mint State grades. This Gem has broad cartwheel luster and faintly frosted inner devices. Pale gray patina appears in wisps with an occasional suggestion of gold. Population: 95 in 65 (1 in 65+), 2 finer (6/12).
