Lot Description
1886-S $1 MS67 NGC. With just three-quarters of a million pieces struck, the 1886-S dollar was a lower-mintage Morgan issue from the start, and meltings of somewhere between a quarter and a half of the original mintage (as reported by Q. David Bowers in his Buyer's Guide to Silver Dollars and Trade Dollars of the United States) only exacerbated its scarcity, particularly in Mint State. This crisply struck representative shows ample reflectivity in the fields, though any pretension to Prooflike status would be tenuous, and considerable frost on the devices. Carefully preserved and gorgeous. Census: 2 in 67, 0 finer (11/08). From The Sanderson Family Collection.
