Lot Description
1888-S $1 MS67 PCGS. This Superb Gem is an amazing iridescent dollar with intermingled rose, gray-gold, sea-green, and lilac color on both sides. Both sides have full satin luster beneath the toning. Although it is not fully struck, this example is considerably finer than most. Only a few sharply struck examples are known. The '88-S is a scarce date in all grades, and it is extremely rare in MS67 quality. Only 657,000 of these coins were originally minted, and most were released during the 1940s and 1950s, often for commercial use in Nevada casinos. Population: 2 in 67, 0 finer (2/07). From The Jackson Hole Collection.
