Lot Description
1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. OGH. Mostly brilliant surfaces with a faint whisper of natural iridescence on the high points and at the rims. The reverse displays considerable prooflike character. The 1889-CC ranks as the single most desirable Morgan Dollar issue struck at the Carson City Mint. It's seems that no Treasury bags of 1889-CC dollars were released into numismatic channels during the dispersion of the giant U.S. Treasury Hoard in the 1960s. Prior to that, comparatively few were ever placed into circulation to accommodate the needs of commerce. The result is that the 1889-CC now qualifies as one of the most desirable issues in the Morgan Dollar series and commands strong premiums in all grades.
