Lot Description
1889-CC Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-62+ (NGC). CAC. Fully lustrous beneath a golden-russet layer of toning and rather impressive quality for this prized date and mint. The 1889-CC is the rarest of the Morgan dollar series from this ever-popular Mint, and by far the majority seen are well circulated. Mint State examples are few and far between, and highly prized when found with attractive surfaces as seen on the present coin. Minimal signs of bag handling and Liberty's face and neck are much nicer than one would expect too find at this preservation level. The original mintage came in at 350,000 pieces, of which perhaps one to two percent survive today in all grade ranges. This storied issue always commands attention when offered in Mint State condition. Worthy of a good long look prior to formulating the proper bid, as each of these high grade Morgan's have their own personality and value.
