Lot Description
1889-O $1 MS66 PCGS. Ex: PCGS Tour Coin. This stunning 1889-O silver dollar is resplendent with two-sided toning of burnt-orange, purple, and bronze hues surrounding icy-silver centers. As Q. David Bowers notes in the Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars, "Today Mint State coins are very common, but sharply struck gems with beautiful luster are rare." This coin surpasses that description with its immaculate strike and Premium Gem eye appeal. It was among the elite Morgan dollars selected to go "on tour" by PCGS in 1990, as indicated on the green insert of this earlier-generation PCGS holder. Population: 10 in 66, 0 finer (11/13). From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation.
