Lot Description
1891-CC $1 MS66 NGC. High grade survivors of the 1891-CC are difficult to locate as it appears the majority of the mintage was dropped into circulation shortly after minting. This coupled with the fact that only 1.6 million pieces were originally struck make it one of the more challenging, semi-key Carson City dates. This coin is distinctively toned with irregular russet and cobalt-blue toning on the obverse that has significant areas of original brilliance interspersed as well. The reverse is completely brilliant, and the surfaces have rich, creamy mint luster that is unaffected by abrasions over any of the significant focal areas of the design. Population: 13 in 66, 1 finer (3/04).
