Lot Description
1892-CC $1 MS65 PCGS. The 1892-CC dollar was the last issue made over the course of a full year at the Carson City Mint, as the start of Grover Cleveland's second presidency saw its coining operations shuttered for good. The closure from 1885 to 1889, Cleveland's first term, had been temporary, but the second was permanent. This Gem from the penultimate Carson City dollar issue has strong gold and navy peripheral toning around largely silver centers. Strong cartwheel luster enhances the eye appeal and the subtly frosted cheek is smooth. PCGS has graded only 28 examples as MS66 or finer (1/14). Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 5/2009), lot 1148.
