Lot Description
1893-O $1 MS64 PCGS. The 1893-O is one of the more challenging issues in the Morgan dollar series, especially in the near-Gem and finer levels of preservation. The issue tends to be heavily bagmarked (David Bowers, A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars), helping to account for the relatively small number of coins grading MS64 and better. Moreover, the '93-O is usually below average in its striking details. Bright luster exudes from the color-free surfaces of the near-Gem offered in this lot. While not fully struck, it still exhibits better design detail than usually seen, including partial definition in the hair above Liberty's ear and the eagle's breast feathers. A few minute marks do not detract from the coin's overall pleasing eye appeal.
