Lot Description
1894 $1 MS64+ PCGS. CAC. Only 110,000 silver dollars were struck at the Philadelphia Mint in 1894. Among Morgan silver dollar issues, only the famous 1893-S claims a lower business-strike mintage. In addition, only a few scattered coins were discovered in the great Treasury releases of the 1960s. As a result, the 1894 is a scarce date in Mint State grades today. The 1894 is definitely a condition rarity at the MS65 level, making this high-end Choice specimen an attractive alternative, with almost equivalent quality and a more affordable price. This sharply detailed example displays vibrant mint luster on both sides and the mostly brilliant surfaces show subdued hints of golden-tan and lavender patina, with few signs of contact. Eye appeal is outstanding. PCGS has graded 24 numerically finer examples (9/13).
