Lot Description
1901-S $1 MS66 PCGS. Of all the San Francisco issues well-represented in the Redfield hoard, the 1901-S was not among them. Paid out to the public in large quantities early on, few sealed bags of Mint State coins survived to supply the numismatic market with high-grade examples. The resulting rarity of Premium Gem representative makes them highly sought-after by specialists. This softly frosted, lustrous survivor exhibits excellent surface preservation and well-struck devices. A thin ribbon of amber-gold and sky-blue peripheral toning surrounds fully brilliant centers, delivering a high degree of eye appeal. Close examination reveals some faint roller marks on the central obverse. Population: 30 in 66 (1 in 66+), 2 finer (3/14).
