Lot Description
1904 $1 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The 1904-POS Morgan dollars would be the last of the "old-style" design, as the 1921 coins were a separate shallow-relief subtype. This example of the 1904 Philadelphia Morgan is far nicer-looking than most of the examples that surfaced in Treasury holdings, mostly below-par coins. Softly frosted but thorough luster emanates from both sides, and the strike is decent if not full at the hair over the ear. The obverse is pinkish-gold with a light rim of golden patina on the reverse. PCGS has seen only 17 submissions -- not coins -- numerically finer (10/13).
