This scarce issue is elusive in both circulated and Mint State grades, many of the 2.3 million coins produced probably succumbing to melting under the terms of the 1918 Pittman Act. A particularly fortunate survivor, the present example is fully Choice in quality. Both sides exhibit vibrant, satin to softly frosted luster and an appreciably bold strike. Brilliant apart from the lightest pale silver, and uncommonly smooth for the grade.
