Lot Description
1904-S Morgan Silver Dollar. MS-65 (NGC). A touch of russet-golden toning graces the peripheries of this mostly white and fully lustrous Morgan Dollar, the toning scheme reminiscent of the subtle toning seen on many dates of San Francisco mint Morgans from the plastic-holdered Redfield Hoard coins--perhaps this was a Redfield coin that was cracked from its primitive "slab" to be submitted for modern third-party slabbing? Surface marks are minimal for the grade and represent only minor touches to Liberty's cheek and the eagle's breast. Purchasing an MS-65 like this one represents great value for the dollar, as the acquisition of coin of this date just one grade point higher would require an investment of several multiples of the what this choice coin will bring on auction night.
