Lot Description
1904 Lewis and Clark Exposition Gold Dollar. MS-66 (PCGS). OGH. Sharply struck with design motifs about as fully rendered as one might find on a circulation strike, which are often quite flat in the hair and head detail on both sides. Fields exhibit a subtle prooflike gleam but are redolent in cartwheel luster and are virtually mark-free, as one might expect from a coin graded MS-66 in an Old Green Holder. We note only a subtle dark mark below ME of AMERICA that will serve to identify this specimen in future sales appearances.  A marvelous survivor of this first Commemorative Gold Dollar issue that represents great value for the dollar, as the acquisition of a specimen graded just one point higher will represent an investment of multiples of what this superb gem will cost on auction night.
