Lot Description
1912 $2 1/2 MS65 PCGS. While the 1912 quarter eagle has a generous mintage and survival patterns that grant it relative accessibility in grades through MS64, at the Gem level it emerges as genuinely conditionally scarce, and finer coins are out-and-out rare. This MS65 representative has significant peach overtones on an apricot-gold base. The strike is quality, including a fully outlined if shallow bottom pendant on the necklace. If not for a horizontal abrasion hidden in the headdress below and to the right of the crescent decoration, this coin would have a serious claim to an even finer grade. Population: 59 in 65, 5 finer (9/12). From The Gnome at the Shore Collection.
