1888 Three-Dollar Gold Piece. MS-65 (PCGS). Genuinely scarce in all grades, even despite the fact that a small number of coins were saved by contemporary dealers, the 1888 Three has a business strike mintage of just 5,000 pieces. This is one of the nicest examples of the date that we have offered in recent memory, a coin characterized by billowy mint luster and vivid reddish-orange color. Sharp-to-full in strike, with nary a distracting abrasion or other blemish in evidence.
