Lot Description
1862 1C PR66 Cameo PCGS. CAC. The 1862 is often used as the type coin for the copper-nickel series. Even though its proof mintage was only 550 pieces, it was generally a better produced coin than the 1860 or 1861. This is a lovely coin that has even, light honey-golden surfaces. The strike is precise and the reverse is essentially immaculate, though the obverse has a few microscopic flecks. Population: 19 in 66 Cameo, 5 finer as Cameo, 2 finer as 66 Ultra Cameo (3/12). Ex: Richard Collection (Heritage, 1/2004), lot 4432, which realized $3,151.
