1846 Liberty Eagle. EF-45 (NGC). Deep honey-gold with traces of olive toning here and there, and with surfaces that are evenly worn but only lightly marked. Just 20,095 examples of the date were struck, a relatively low output for the Philadelphia Mint during the era. While numerous examples of the date have been certified EF-45 to AU-58 by NGC, we note just five grading events in the Mint State category by the firm, the finest of those just MS-62. A nice opportunity for an alert eagle specialist.
