Lustrous and especially bright and attractive for the surface quality. Obviously a coin that did not circulate much before taking the long one-way ride to Davy Jones's locker off the North Carolina coast in 1857 during a colossal hurricane that September. Faint circulation evidence in the fields and high points only, but no deep marks or heavy handling issues. Recovered circa 1990 from nearly two miles below the surface of the sea, and remarkably mint fresh today.
