1862-S Liberty Eagle. EF-45 (PCGS). Satin smooth surfaces that have just enough wear to blend in the old shipping bagmarks into the fields and devices. Muted luster from handling, and the surfaces are better than average. Huge "S" mintmark on the reverse used for a brief period on these important eagle coins of the late Gold Rush period. Rare in all grades with a modest mintage of 12,500 pieces, of which perhaps 60-80 are known today per PCGS.
