Lot Description
1873-CC $10 XF40 PCGS. The 1870-CC Eagle often commands headlines, but it is not the lowest mintage Carson City Eagle. The 1873-CC is among the few issues with an even smaller production, a scant 4,543 pieces. Noted branch mint specialist Douglas Winter regards it as the second rarest CC-mint issue of the denomination in high grades, tied with 1872-CC. This sharp representative has pleasing tinges of orange-gold luster that illuminate the otherwise pale lime-gold surfaces. A couple of short pinscratches in the field in front of the eagle's beak are noted for pedigree purposes. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 7 in 40, 18 finer (4/05).
