Lot Description
1873-CC $10 XF45 PCGS. The 1873-CC is one of the rarest Carson City issues of the ten dollar denomination. The majority of survivors grade no better than Very Fine, and the highest grade certified by PCGS and NGC is AU55 (one example apiece). Just 4,543 pieces were struck, and these went directly into circulation. The peach-gold surfaces of this Choice XF example display traces of luster in the protected areas. Relatively sharp definition shows on the design elements, save for the usual softness in the eagle's neck feathers. The light contact marks scattered about are in line with what might be expected for a relatively large gold coin that has seen some circulation. Population: 13 in 45, 12 finer (10/08).
