Lot Description
1874-CC $10 XF40 PCGS. Although the 1874-CC is regarded as the most available Carson City Eagle issue from its decade, this by no means suggests that it is common. Only 16,767 pieces were struck, and Douglas Winter estimates that only 150 to 175 pieces have survived, the majority of these in VF and lower grades. This bright example has a typical strike on the fletchings and on Liberty's hair curls above the ear. However, the eagle's plumage has the sharpness of a higher grade. A small dark spot is noted on the reverse rim past 5 o'clock. Encapsulated in a green label PCGS holder. Population: 30 in 40, 39 finer (8/03). From the Holman Family Collection.
