On this lovely 1913-S eagle the honey-gold surfaces are highly lustrous and reveal generally bold design motifs, save for a bit of softness on the eagle's neck, shoulder, and right (facing) talons. This is an attractive piece with a mere handful of trivial contact marks that keep it from grading finer. From the mintage of 66,000 pieces, most were melted, yielding survivors that probably number in the range of 1,000 to 2,000 coins. Of those, relatively few are as nice as that offered here. For the date and mint collector of this series, finding a suitable 1913-S is always a challenge, and this one will undoubtedly find many suitors.
