Lot Description
1929 $20 MS62 PCGS. CAC. The 1922 to 1928 Philadelphia issues are common, but the distribution was different for the 1929. Practically the entire mintage remained in Treasury storage, and only a couple hundred pieces managed to escape the furnace. Those coins are subject to enormous demand, since the Saint-Gaudens type is widely collected despite its formidable cost of entry. The median certified grade is MS64, and such pieces cost about twice that of an MS62. The present piece is comparatively affordable, yet has full luster and sharpness. Distributed small marks, mostly confined to the obverse, correspond to the grade.
