Lot Description
A satiny and boldly lustrous Lafayette dollar with intense cartwheel activity beneath a vivid array of even peach and varied golden tones. The obverse features the busts of Washington and Lafayette, and an equestrian statue of Lafayette dominates the reverse design. The statue of Lafayette was paid for by pennies raised by American school children as a "thank you" to France for its role in the Revolution. Struck on December 14, 1899 for issue and sale in early 1900. Choice for the grade and aesthetically deserving of the + designation.
