1936-S 50C Cincinnati MS66 PCGS. Songwriter Stephen Foster (1826-1864), "America's Troubadour," is depicted on the obverse of this popular commemorative. Among Foster's biggest hits were "Camptown Races," "Oh! Susanna," "Jeanie With the Light Brown Hair," "My Old Kentucky Home," "Beautiful Dreamer," and "Hard Times Come Again No More." Foster moved to Cincinnati in 1846, where he wrote many of his most successful songs. This Premium Gem Cincinnati half features rose and amber-gold obverse hues with a similar palette on the reverse, although a crescent of mottled jade appears at the upper-right quadrant.
