Lot Description
1936 Cleveland Centennial/Great Lakes Exposition. MS-67 (NGC). OH. Frosty lustre. Warmly toned in intermingled golden brown, lilac, crimson, and jade. Although regularly available in MS-65 and lower grades, the Cleveland half dollar is very scarce at the MS-67 level and absolutely rare finer. Numismatists have noted over the years that the portrait on the obverse looks more like John Wayne (then in the early years of his motion pictures career) than Moses Cleaveland.
